They replaced it with the General Washington which has the American flag on it.
I wanted this one but figured the wife wouldn't find it funny.

I bought a ghillie suit in woodland camo. It was a cheap one from Amazon (Red Rock Outdoor Gear) is the brand name. It was about $40. They have other colors as well. I am planning on ordering some more as it is surprising good quality. If you get one, be prepared to comb it out a bit.
I also got a couple household battery testers, a few Sawyer Mini filters, and 1200 more rounds of .22lr.
I will also be able to pay off my ex-wife's car next month which means a lot more financial freedom.

It takes a bit of practice, . . . but I've been laying the ammo on my desk, . . . pushing down on the magazine, . . . and it loads a whole bunch easier than using my 73 year old thumbs to push the ammo into the magazine.
Gonna get a bigger try out just as soon as the weather breaks, . . . put a new A2 stock on my truck gun, . . . gotta get some rounds thru it now.
Field checked it today with 5 rounds, . . . all was a go, . . . just need to do some more and get a bit more used to the trigger. Breaks real nice at about 5 pounds it feels like, . . . but it was cold and windy out there, . . . and all I needed was an action check to see if all was working right.
Dropped the little keeper pin for the rear takedown pin when I was changing out the stock, . . . almost turned blue holding my breath until I found it.
May God bless,
Dwight

Finally got my "bug in bag" put together and stashed in the back of my most used vehicle.
Just in case I would be in the Ohio outback, . . . and need to hoof it home for some reason, . . . saw the idea on the green forum, . . . thought about it for a while, . . . then just up and decided I'd do it.
Feels good knowing it's in there, . . .
Now I gotta make up one for the Mama wagon.
May God bless,
Dwight

I placed an order for seeds and plants tonight.
In addition to the garden, which I hope will do MUCH better this year (fingers crossed), I am ordering a couple of blueberry bushes, and a English Walnut tree, as well as strawberry seeds and squash seed that I couldn't find locally.
My idea is to make MY yard at least, food producing, with veggies, berries, and nuts. I thought about a dwarf fruit tree also, but decided to wait until next year as I didn't want to overburden myself with too much at one time.

TJC44 If you plan to plant a fruit tree take time to do it this year if money is not a issue. Not much up keep a few minutes here and there. We planted about half of our fruit trees as we broke ground on our house 8 years ago. We have planted more over the years but regret it every year that we haven't planted any nut trees.

Wife brought home 2 peach trees today. a "Summer Prince' and a "White Lady". She seen a special $13 each. I don't think I have ever had a white peach but from what I found online they both are very good. One ripens in June and the other in Late July so that will help me out when canning them. Last year was my first year canning peaches. They were very small. Only got 24 pints. Just opened the first jar the other day everyone liked them.

I open my boxes with explosives. I learned from the people in Houston. What model of Mora did you get? I like the heavy duty Companion model in carbon steel. I usually get them in a bright orange color as they are easier to spot if I drop them in the woods. I agree they are great (cheap) knives.
Anyway, I ordered a few more Sawyer Minis and Katadyne Carbon Elements (camping/hiking model). It is hard to beat that filter combination for usefulness, ability, longevity, and portability. A set runs less than $40 and can be used for the rest of your lifetime if you care for them.

I am starting bug out bags for a niece and nephew. They are younger (10 and 7 years old). I ordered them each a Condor Compact Assault Pack, a couple water canteens, and a couple smaller pouches to boost the capacity of the bag if needed. I already got them each a Sawyer Mini, and I am making a small fire kit (a lighter and a few petroleum soaked cotton balls). They will not carry much more than a spare set of clothes, clothes for the season, a shemagh, food, and water.

last week, picked up about twenty gallon cans of Piant, a few gallons of paint remover, and about ten nice 4X4 box panels, will make great fence material, and it was all free.
Also, worked out a deal with the local co-op, to get 10 dollars in credit for some boxes that we normally let employees have, we get three or five a month, so that is just money in my pocket, so far, he has three boxes, and I have spent 5 dollars on chicken feed, and he owes me 25$.
Three days ago I REALLY SCORED, a lot ( like a level truck bed worth) of hardwood, 3/4 inch oak, anywhere from 8 to 12 inches wide, lots of boards, at four feet each. (the employees usually get first dibs, but I grabbed these during a clean up.) I will make a lot of MONEY from that wood.
Yesterday, I got more fence panels, and 10 gallons of floor concrete sealant.
Today, I just loaded about 15 gallons of old paint, and two cases of Teflon spray (similar to WD 40), but not oily.
We are cleaning out our warehouse, and reducing our chemical inventory.
My wife will sell or use the paint, and I have huge plans in the making for all the wood.
Stay tuned.
I ordered 8 more 18" F-style Bessey Clamps and 4 more 24" F-style Bessey clamps. I should have bought them BEFORE I started the kitchen cabinets. But I certainly have a LOT more cabinetry and furniture to build. This brings my total up to 18 of each size.
He who dies with the most clamps wins!

Hell yes on a Leatherman Wave. I've carried one for about 9 years now. I DO FRIGGIN NOT go more than a few steps from the house without it. I've freed dumbass goats from fences more times than I can count. Fixed fence, trimmed branches, hell, trimmed a hoof or two...
I don't know the current price, but you have spent your money well.

Found a good deal on a 9mm conversion barrel for my Glock 22 $89. On Ebay. For now for unreliable feeding will just use the g22 mags will fit sloppy and may have occasional feed issues but will work till I get a few G17 mags
Looked at some mags on Ebay but looks like Ebay only allows 10rnd mags https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190403/f953d94c8426845cecd352b22d07fafd.jpg

I walked another 12+ miles on Saturday, I just went nuts; I ended up at Joe's Creek Park, and then I walked around the path there. I had 2 big blisters on Sunday, which I lanced. I can't believe that I did it, but I did; plus I picked up a DVD/VCR player, at a yard sale; close to Joe's Creek, and then toted it home.
Note: I put this on another forum, and all I got was silence; I don't think that they believe me. If they keep doubting me, they are history.
I proudly come in second when I am doing math, but I tend to come in first when I do hard exercise.
There aren't many 63 year old fat boy's who can walk 10+ miles.
My ultimate feat will be to walk to Wagon Wheel Flea Market; and that will be a serious undertaking.

Humping that many boards is a job, and your exercise is taking care of itself. Not many 61 year old's can even attempt that, I know that I could not do it.
What do you consider full kit, how many pounds?
I may start rucking again myself, with an old duffel bag and 50 pounds of stuff in it. [Or maybe 10 pounds of stuff, I ain't what I used to be.]
Good job Mister Mills, keep it up!
Thanks Slippy, I am going to keep it up, because I think the Grim Reaper has his crummy paws on my heart, I am having some symptoms that are scary.
And walking is all I know to do to strengthen myself.

Repurposed a peice of leather from a survival sheath I bought a few years ago (Before Hawg started playing with leather.) basically only save the tin holder attached it to the modified stock sheath for my BK2.
Turned out good more compact than my old version and easily removed if I want.
Pictured is also the contents of the tin that can also it's self be used as a char cloth maker. The tin foil wrap is only about a 12 inches worth and has about 24 strike anywhere matches in it. The cotton ball in the small baggie is soaked in vaseline. Only thing missing is 25 ft of spider wire I had taped around the edge of tin cause it got used and I forgot to put it back on

We sold down to twenty acres. I've got things fairly well condensed as a homestead operation as we've gotten older. We kept the best acreage with the ponds, spring, house, and barns.
Part of the place is still wooded close to the house. No more we growing elm trees if I can put in apple. I've got peach in another section, and put in nine apple trees last spring.
Guess I told more than was asked, huh?

Anyway I went to Clearwater, and my legs are still killing me; so I am taking OTC pain meds, like they are going out of style.
PS: I ended my trip up at a city park, which is right across the water from Clearwater Beach: which was ranked #1 last year by Trip Advisor. I can't believe my life sometimes, and my outlandish good fortune. I can go to the nations best beach whenever I want to.

Good thing you are on a bike....
I LOVE Clearwater Beach... but... After vacationing there and staying on the island.. I can do WITHOUT the traffic.
A bike would be OUTSTANDING.
Good job on the continued biking. It is too cold here in Michigan for me to bike in the winter.

[That's catchy and I can remember doing it, since I tend to forget a lot of stuff.] It is 2 each of Tylenol, Motrin & Aleve, the store brand of course, since I am too cheap to get the real McCoy.

It ain't that much better on a bike, than it is in a car; but they do have a lane for 2 wheeler's, along the side of the road. I have nearly been hit a few times here in this county; and it does not matter which part of the county that I go to. Clearwater and Tampa & St Pete, are dangerous places, for bike riding; but I gotta do something, to exercise and blow off steam & energy.
PS: I had a bike with me when I was in Alaska, but I did not use it very much, so I understand your Michigan weather. The freezing cold takes the fun right out of a lot of things.

Yeah not a bad idea
The wife brought home some more canned goods and soap yesterday. I still have a little room in my freezer I think I may hit the butcher shop for another 20 lbs burger and 20 lbs chicken breasts and thighs. I need one more belly before warm weather to cure and smoke. I have 2 slabs of belly to smoke this weekend.

Cross your fingers for me, but Saturday I'm meeting with a guy to attempt a deal where I buy all his bull calves at a favorable to me price. He only advertised two, but when i said i was looking for both, he hinted he may have a couple or so more if I was interested.
Time to do a little banding, maybe...would sure take care of the possible meat crisis.

No, I opted out. When I arrived, it is as pretty obvious that the calves were not as old as claimed, were both bottle babies, ( that's fine) and way overpriced.

Doesn't affect timing. If you using the weight on the canner use 10 psi which is correct. If your using the dial only go by 11 psi. Personally I think its just to give you wiggle room if your using a dial only pressure canner.

So today I swung into Jay's looking at guns, I did score 100 rds of 45LC they were out of most every other pistol caliber there werea few 38spl some 45 acp defense rounds. They also had 22 lr and mag some 308 but no 556 and most calibers in deer loads. Shotgun rounds were a little thin but it is small game season. I did look at a really nice stoeger semi auto the m3k i might go back for tomorrow they make nice shotguns and this would make for nice home defense or 3 gun shooting like I have talked to a buddy about getting into. It had the extended tube so is 10+1..... felt good in my hands one of my buddies working there says it shoots really well and price was around 540.

We planted 5 more fruit trees today. That puts us at a total of 14.
4 Apples
2 Pomegranates
2 Cherry
2 Apricot
2 Pears
2 Almonds
Assuming they all survive, we are now done with planting fruit trees. But I am a bit worried about one of the Almonds. It was planted last year and it did give us a few nuts this year but it is not looking as good as the other trees and did not grow nearly as much this year as the others.
Part of my summer project this year was digging drip irrigation to each of the trees. That made a HUGE difference with all of the trees except the problem Almond. All of the others nearly doubled in size just this year! I highly recommend doing drip irrigation for trees. It makes watering go from about a 2 hour task to about 5 minutes and the trees love it.
Next year's projects are going to be chickens and bees. I am hopeful the bees will be a huge help with the trees and gardens. (And if they give us some honey and beeswax, that will be a nice bonus too.)

I thought the strawberries were pretty good and the tomato powder is freakin' awesome to keep around. When Mrs Inor is making fresh marinara she sometimes uses it to cheat if the marinara is taking too long to cook down. I have never complained about Mrs Inor's marinara (and that has nothing to do with the fact that she might beat me up).

Well not sure the shelf life of pickled eggs but I ran off a small batch today..14 eggs fixing to reach the expiration date. Seems like Hawgrider had a recipe somewhere but I couldnt find it. so I checked a few recipes for spicy eggs and came up a these. Revolving around this pickling concoction brought to a boil and allowed to cool before using. .
2 cups white vinegar..1 cup water. 1 Tablespoon Salt 3 Tablespoons sugar. A handful of frozen bell pepper onion medley..half handful minced dry onion, Tablespoon or two of sliced pickled japs..1 big bay leaf ..half handful black peppercorns...3 cloves peeled fresh garlic..tiny amount of ground cinnamon. Poured that over two quart jars full of hard boiled eggs..which didnt quite fill up the jars so they they got topped with Organic Apple Cider vinegar. Will report back in a week or two to share if they was fit to eat.

14288We have thread of pickling good info on there. Recipes with more vinegar do make a rubbery texture I personally like the softer text so use 50 50 or 60 40 being water 60 vinegar 40

Be patient on the Pink Lady trees. We have been planting 5-6 fruit trees per year since we finished the house. Two of them are Pink Ladies. They are ALWAYS the absolute last trees to come out in the spring. Every year, I have thought they did not make it through the winter and have been ready to dig them up and replace them. I did not the first year just because I was too busy at the time. The last couple years I have become used to it. They are always at least a month behind everything else.
This spring, the almonds already had fruit started and the Pink Ladies did not even have leaves or flowers yet. Also, they seem to grow a bit slower than other apple trees.

Wife wanted some Macintosh and fugi so planted 2 of each. Today
Then used Hawgs old tiller to get a garden started. Nothing big this year so this will do for nowhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210501/fe16e43a281f116084aa40bc63130689.jpg

Spread compost in the garden...keeping the corn starts and some others going in the greenhouse.
cut another delicious batch of asparagus for the next dinner :)
We're still have garlic from last year's haul. This year's crop is looking great! About 160 bulbs growing! No vampires here!!
Still working on integrating the 4 rescued chickens into our batch of 7 girls...going slowly...my wife built a temporary outdoor area for them to keep everyone safe
Still socializing the 4 new chicks - created a separate space for them in the coop and outside so the other chickens couldn't get at them, but everyone could see each other. Added a second remote coop door to the back of the coop.

Get some of my garlic in there. We need to dig some up tomorrow. Between you and mlodell07's few rows we won't lose the strain.
