Hipsters piss me off. They are really just the modern version of a hippie. They do not know jack shit about anything (especially drinkables), but think they know everything. I think it is due to the skinny jeans. The jeans squeeze their nuts back up inside their hip bones and their body has to divert all their blood just to keep their nuts alive that their brains get starved for blood until they go full retard. Once they go retard, their brains are no longer smart enough to divert blood to keep their nuts alive and that is when they turn fag.

I got a "care package" in the mail today with a new beer that I had never even heard of.

http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag23/InorTheBloody/20161014_193824_zpsvpdnqptt.jpg

It is called Love Honey Bock from Little Rock, AK. This stuff is REALLY good! It has a distinct caramel flavor. What I like best about it is that it is carbonated the way a Bock is supposed to be carbonated, with a secondary fermentation in the can. That means it is not extremely carbonated like a lot of the American Bock beers are, and that is a good thing. It adds to the flavor.

I HIGHLY recommend it if you can find it near you.

Bell's Brewery is unveiling a new beer when it distributes to Texas. (Bell's Brewery)

COMSTOCK, MI — Bell's Brewery will debut a new beer in Texas when it starts distributing in the state in March 2017.

The special limited-release beer called Am I Right or Amarillo will only be available in Texas. The beer is an American IPA "with big, bold aromas of citrus and tropical fruit, balanced with a firm malt backbone," according to Bell's. It is 6 percent alcohol by volume.

What are those stones... Im going looking?

Put the soapstones in the frezzer and they won't dilute your fine booze like ice would.

" natural soapstone to chill drinks due to its softness (won't scratch the glass) and its unique ability to retain temperature for extended periods of time."

Our rental house is located in a small town. I cannot get what I would call "good beer" here, but I can get "average beer": Sam Adams, Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, etc. We were over at our build site today and I realized I cannot even get average beer there without driving 30+ miles. So I decided that I need to start preparing my body for a life without decent beer (until I can start making it myself again). So tonight I picked up some Budweiser. It is not as bad as I remember it, but it definitely will not win any prizes.

At our new place there will be nothing for even semi-quality beer for about 30 miles. So now I am trying to figure out, do I give up beer? Or do I just adjust until I have time and space to start brewing again? The jury is still out.

Don't be a quitter! Bud will do the trick in a pinch. Take it from me, it'll also make you appreciate the good stuff even more. There's got to be a beer of the month club or something that'll deliver to you out in the sticks. Dammit man, we're Americans (true Americans, not those little wanna be snowflake type) and we figure shit out! Where there's a will there's a way. At the very least do it for the Gipper!

In the 80's I lived in Texas in a dry county. Yeah, it was a "Wet/Dry" County where you could get beer, wine, liquor at some restaurants but you had to "join their club" which cost $5 bucks per year and you'd get some rinky dink membership card to buy a bottle of beer or a glass of wine or a jack/coke IF they even served liquor.

Grocery stores did not sell beer and there were no liquor stores in the county so we had to drive to the county line to buy for home consumption. The Craft Beer boom hadn't happened yet and I wasn't making shit so I usually bought a couple of cases of the cheapest beer they had; Lone Star, Pearl, Natty Light etc.

Me and my neighbor would make beer run together, about a 30 mile roundtrip, and the best was that Texas had an open container law where you could drink and drive!...as long as you werent drunk.

The County was small and the back road to the county line beer stores was a flat straight road and you'd cross over a long bridge over the river to get to the beer stores that were shitty metal buildings lit up with Beer Signs and Arrows like the Vegas Strip. I'd buy a couple of Nabs (4 Nabisco Crackers/Peanut Butter or Cheese in a plastic wrap) eat those when I was standing in line with all the rest of the drunks on a Friday after work, buy a couple of cases of cheap Lone Star and pop a top as soon as I got in my truck and finish the first beer before I got to the other side of the bridge.

Good times...

Slippy, you've described my County! Except were on the border with Arkansas and Louisiana, so the drive isn't nearly as far. But right at the line it's lit up just like you described. I'll try to remember to get pics. And the choices for craft beer is various Shiners or Sam Adams. Hafta drive 30 miles one way to get to the real fancy stuff.

We lived in Angelina County, TX and had a few options to buy booze.

One way to go was to drive West from Angelina County to Trinity County towards Apple Springs on Hwy 94 just across the river or go south on 59 across the Neches River to Goat Hill. True story and this article below I found brings back memories. Since Mrs S was in school at SFA, we would buy beer/liquor in Nacogdoches County too. Angelina County went wet in 07 according to the article.

Good ole dry East Texas. I lived in one of the largest counties in the state for quite a while ... Smith county. Long known as the wettest dry county in Texas. Had to drive any direction to the county line to by liquor or booze. It went wet around 2010.

Anyway, they have a rolling sign that advertises each beer they carry, the acv, and the home brewery location. Pabst Blue Ribbon in LA California? .... I had no idea.

I haven't had a PBR for probably 30 years. I been kinda wanting to have one just for fun.
I think those Lumber sexual millennials took those over as their preferred beer didn't they?

The last time I was in Quebec I discovered PBR is THE beer to drink if you are a metrosexual hipster. The sell them for about $3 per can up there! When I was in college I used to live on PBR because you could get it for about $5.75 a case!

Recharge and relax by the fire with the perfect beer.
There is nothing like sitting by the fire and cracking a cold one. Nothing defines spring and summer like sitting around a fire with good friends, telling some fish stories, and most importantly having an ice cold beer. So, do it up right this year with the perfect beer from the list below.

Now there are, in my mind, two types of camping and fires. Cold nights, when you want to warm up and keep close to the fire, and,

I have lamented here a few time about the one bad thing about living in AZ is the lack of good quality beers. I can get some flavors of Lagunitas and Sierra Nevada (of course). Stone IPA is sold here but they want an arm and a leg for it - around $21 per 12 pack! There is a local brewery called Four Peaks that is okay, but not great. Beyond that, I am pretty much stuck with Bud.

I found the solution to my problem this evening!

I was lost driving around Tucson this evening when I happened across a Total Wine store. We had them in MN and they had some quality beers but mostly they were a snooty wine store there. I stopped in and was thrilled to discover that about half the store was dedicated to good beer! And it was mostly cheaper than what I was paying in MN!

My first pickup was a pair from a local brewery.

http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag23/InorTheBloody/IMG_20170304_193344895_zpsqlx1r8k6.jpg

I have to admit, I bought these two because of the names. The house we are building sits next to the Dragoon Mountains and the Cochise Stronghold is a box canyon right behind where we are building.

I have never tried the second one I picked out, but anything from Stone is going to be at least good, and probably great.

http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag23/InorTheBloody/IMG_20170304_193403620_zpsfsvxjkzk.jpg

Then I happened upon one of my favorites that I was sure I would never see again unless I went back to the upper midwest.

http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag23/InorTheBloody/IMG_20170304_193422062_zpssnvgwyt8.jpg

Finally, I thought... What the hell, they won't have it, but I should at least look to be sure... Low and behold, I was able to snag the last two bottles of Killer Penguin!!!!

Be careful. They creep up on you. They are about 6% or so.

Funny story - One of the vacation trips we took to AZ several years ago, we were sitting out one summer evening drinking far too much with a British couple. I went up to our shack and brought back a case of Stella for all of us to enjoy. They started exclaiming "He has wife beaters! He has wife beaters!" Apparently there was a famous court case in England where a husband was on trial for beating his wife. His defense was that he had been drinking too many Stellas and that is what caused him to beat his wife. Ever since, all the Limeys call it Wife Beater. :biglaugh:

They still do.

I go down to Liquor Barn and pursue their Bourbon aisle, which is right next to their Whiskey aisle. The plastic containers are right next to the glass ones, same size same price.

Knob Creek is my brand and they don't do any of that stupid plastic bottle stuff.

There’s been a trend lately to get back to the old way of doing things, especially when it comes to things we ingest. People are eating organic produce, for example, and some are going as far as planting their own gardens. Many chefs are serving old-world comfort food right next to their innovative dishes. This trend has also entered the world of libations. Drink menus around the country are starting to have more of the old classics included on them. Many mixologists are using these cocktails as starting points for newer versions that take advantage of the plethora of products out there today.

If you like Knob Creek have you had Buffalo Trace yet?
Another favorite of mine right now is Rebel Reserve.

Buffalo Trace is my favorite. There's a reason you can't find it anymore in my area. That reason is....

The Rebel Reserve is pretty tasty for only in the 25.00 range.
I prefer the Buffalo Trace over the Knob Creek. And the price is much friendlier.

I try to keep it cheap on the daily drink. 10 bucks, but it doesn't have that good smoky bourbon taste.

Heard that! I drink plenty of 10 to 12 bucks whiskey.

Speaking of smokey bourbon we have been known to smoke ice cubes for a different bourbon experiance. Tried it yet? Very good in a cheap glass of whiskey on a rock too.

I stole these from Hawg. Here's a couple pictures.

Basically you make ice cubes and put them in the smoker. Hit em till they melt and refreeze. Congratulations you now have smoked ice cubes! Hawg already mentioned that they are a hit with various drinks. My wife found that they are also great in homemade stews, chilis and soups! Enjoy.

Thanks Ark I knew they were buried in the smoking thread somewhere.

Yeah we have used hickory, apple and cherry. Hickory is the strongest. Only one rock needed for a glass of bourbon.
I think most of us agree for the drinks apple and cherry wood is the best. For soups and chili hickory is nice.
We have a interesting smoking thread in the "kill em and grill em" section check it out.
