Have you heard the one about the guy who walked into a bar and ordered a $10,000 shot of whisky?

A young Chinese man paid 9,999 Swiss francs ($10,000, 8,733 euros) last week at a Swiss hotel for a glass of whisky made in 1878 by the revered Scotch maker Macallan, the 20Minuten website said.

The report was confirmed by an employee of the luxury Waldhaus Hotel in St. Moritz, northeast Switzerland.

The hotel's Devil's Place Whisky Bar has been honoured for its 2,500 bottle collection, including by the Guinness Book of World Records.

But proprietor Sandro Bernasconi told 20Minuten he never expected to open this particular treasure.

After entering the bar with a group of people, the client expressed particular interest in the Macallans -- the hotel has 47 options, ranging from seven Swiss francs to ten grand.

"I told the customer that the most expensive Macallan was not for sale", Bernasconi was quoted as saying by the website.

First, Kentucky is home to many rivers, the most important of which is the Kentucky River, which runs the length of the state. The riverbeds of the Kentucky and its tributaries contain natural limestone, which naturally filters out impurities — like iron — which can cause discoloration, off flavors, and hangovers. It is possible to remove these impurities through chemical processes in a lab, but the natural filtering of the limestone interacts in such a way as to remove the greatest amount of impurities. While Kentucky isn’t the only place in the country with naturally-occurring, limestone-laden water, it does have the easiest access to the highest amounts, making it prime whiskey production territory. A cowboy, who just moved to Wyoming from Texas , walks into a bar and orders three mugs of Bud. He sits in the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each one in turn. When he finishes them, he comes back to the bar and orders three more.

The bartender approaches and tells the cowboy, "You know, a mug goes flat after I draw it. It would taste better if you bought one at a time."

The cowboy replies, "Well, you see, I have two brothers. One is in Arizona , the other is in Colorado . When we all left our home in Texas , we promised that we'd drink this way to remember the days when we drank together. So I'm drinking one beer for each of my brothers and one for myself."

The bartender admits that this is a nice custom, and leaves it there.

The cowboy becomes a regular in the bar, and always drinks the same way. He orders three mugs and drinks them in turn.

One day, he comes in and only orders two mugs. All the regulars take notice and fall silent. When he comes back to the bar for the second round, the bartender says, "I don't want to intrude on your grief, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your loss."

The cowboy looks quite puzzled for a moment, then a light dawns in his eyes and he laughs.

"Oh, no, everybody's just fine," he explains, "It's just that my wife and I joined the Baptist Church and I had to quit drinking."

Seriously I have pretty much been a drinker most my life, I stay with one thing almost always. Do you people who switch up drink every nite?

Been drinking for 45 years variety is the spice of life.

Moderation is the key to not turning yellow.

Drink every nite? Not always. But yes sometimes.

This week yup every nite. Last week not every day but several.

I get burned out drinking the same thing every time. I have gone thru periods of time with a main drink such as about 15 years main drinking rum and coke alternating with lots of beer. Then 10/15 years of whiskey and coke for bulk with beer breaks and lots of bourbon straight up or on a rock.

Then inbetween all that has been some Vodka kicks and anything else that is cold and wet.

There is too much quality in beer and bourbon these day to just drink one flavor everytime.
