Cracked open first sniff nutty an hint of fruit.
Color description was right on.
Flavor is very pleasant not thick or over hoppy. Good balance it is thicker then the penguin.
After taste is light an refreshing I'm not much for a description guy but I like it.
Not Killet penguin but high on my list to have another http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160221/34e20bf83db2f0549e97cde1ea8fc44f.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160221/446d10fd871f0f9638bb55264077f6db.jpg

That one sounds tasty and 11% yee haw!

Blithering Idiot, 11.1% ABV, is brewed in the British tradition of balanced, hearty ales. *It’s a deep-copper ale with notes of date and fig. The finish is warm and fruity and begs for the next sip.

Enjoy Blithering Idiot in a brandy snifter or wine glass with full-flavored meats and cheeses or as an after dinner drink. This wonderful brew is available year-round. Lay a few down. Aging only helps a barleywine develop more complexity. This fine ale will keep for years.*We feel comfortable setting our “Best By” date out to five years beyond the bottling date

Drinking is NOT a hobby. It's a skill.

I'm partial to Sierra Nevada, Stone Breweries Arrogant Bastard, Racer 5 and, if you like the IPA's, try a Raging Bitch.

Oh hell yeah! I like them all! Also, Drakes Ale is pretty good too.

Our friend here, Black Dog, has a coffee roasting business. He sells coffee beans to the Flying Dog brewery (the makers of Raging Bitch) for their [something] Dog Stout. The bottle even has Black Dog's logo on it. I had a 6 around Christmas this year. It was pretty dang good!

If you like IPAs, see if you can find Surly's Abrasive Ale. That stuff is outstanding! It is a Minneapolis beer, so I do not know if they sell it out of state yet or not. If you cannot find it, let me know. I'll get you a 4 pack. (4 - 16 oz cans - more than you will need in one sitting, trust me.)

Beer Ice cream? I have not lived because I have never had or heard of beer ice cream.

I'm sure I am not the first to try this but the stuff I made was pretty damn good. Unfortunately the process requires heating up the beer first which burns off most of the alcohol. The only saving grace is the beer's taste remains leaving you with a delicious summer treat!

So it has a smooth start an smooth finish more earthy or woody taste maybe nutty can not pin point it. It is thicker then both the Killer Penguin an the Back burner.
Now the 11% kicks in nicely but again really couldn't enjoy but only 1 here an there an these are 12 oz not 22 like the others.
I did pick up anoyher Back burner as I did enjoy grilling an drinking that 22 oz
Again Killet penguin comes out on top.

My beer revolves around Bud Light (Note: I hear some of you beer snobs laughing your asses off), Lone Star, Dos Equis and of course a cold PBR. On occasion a little vodka.

I guess I have to get down to the beer store and get a penquin ......... While I long ago mastered the no whiskey face ...... am I to do the same with a penquin face?

Well last weekend the RubbberDuck treated me to some Knob creek. This was the first time I had sampled any.

Here are my thoughts on the very expensive knob creek-

We tried it neat warm right into a shot glass. Smelled and sipped it.

Then we tried it chilled neat.

Then we tried it on the rocks.

My analysis- Yeah it was good. It was best on the rocks with a slight melt that brought out more of the flavor.
But for the price it wasn't that good in my opinion.

I enjoy Rebel Reserve and Buffalo Trace much much more and the price is about half of knob creeks.

So I hate to say it but as far as Im concerned Knob Creek is over rated and over priced.

You drink yours chilled, warm or on a rock?

Have you ever heard of smoked rocks(smoked ice cubes).

Smoke and some bourbons go together well.

Check it out for bourbon- http://www.gq.com/story/grilling-guide-how-to-smoke-ice

Usually chilled or on the rock. But the smoked ice is interesting.

No but I am dirty old man. Ice won't melt at 32 but it will melt at 33:beerchug:

Ice cubes or a block of ice in a clean pan. Smoke it till it melts. Pour back in a ice cube tray and re freeze.

Late start here toinight which is rare. Finally got this Blithering Idiot cracked open. Nice color, nice head. The Duck was right this one is a bit thicker than the barley wine beer I sampled last weekend. The flavor is great. Very smooth I like the thickness. Of course the Killer Penguin has set the standard. Inor has me hooked on these barley wine beers. These things are "As addicting as crack" damn their good. Its been awhile since I had the penquin so memory starts fading but each of these barley beers that the RubberDuck found remind me of the penquins.

I hate to reference the "Red" Solo cup, there are other races available, the yellow solo cup, the blue solo cup, the all hold the same amount of bourbon and ice as the "Red" solo cup.

and when you raise it to drink out of, you don't see the color anyway...

The Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery has a four generation history. The Van Winkle family’s involvement in the bourbon industry began in the late 1800s with Julian P. "Pappy" Van Winkle, Sr. He was a traveling salesman for the W.L. Weller and Sons wholesale house in Louisville, traveling around the state by horse and buggy. Pappy and a friend, Alex Farnsley, eventually bought the wholesale house and also purchased the A. Ph. Stitzel Distillery, which made bourbon for Weller. They merged the two companies and became the Stitzel-Weller Distillery. Their prominent brands were W.L. Weller, Old Fitzgerald, Rebel Yell, and Cabin Still

So this Tin cup is very tasty straight.
Smooth start smooth finish
No heat but a nice warm feeling after it's already down the warmth hung there pleasantly.
Second sip was even better like the first was preparing my taste buds.
I'm really enjoying this almost to much it's hard to sip and make it last I want another sip as soon as I swallow.
I will buy this again.

Killing off brain cells isn't necessarily a bad thing. To prove this to anyone interested I present The Buffalo Theory...

Well ya see, it’s like this… A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That’s why you always feel smarter after a few beers.”

Got me a bottle or the new single barrel Jack Daniels Rye
I have the 2 previous batches released that are rare an hard to get. This is the end result of those .
I am a big fan of everything Jack an this is right up there for me the rye is a taste off the norm extreme flavor.
Great on ice kind of warm neat but that is to be expected for 94 proof.

http://content.artofmanliness.com/uploads//2009/04/scotchwhisky.jpg

No other spirit has been associated with manhood like Scotch whisky. Whether it’s the hooking punch in the mouth or just the raw and earthy process by which it is brought forth from barley and water, Scotch has held a prominent place in the lives of men from kings to authors to titans of industry. What separates Scotch from its alcoholic counterparts is not just its unique background (to be labeled Scotch, a whisky must be distilled and initially matured in Scotland), but the commonalities shared by the men who partake in its liquid mysteries.

The man who drinks Scotch is one who lives life to the hilt,

I had a YUGE fight today. We had a big storm come through the other day and it knocked down one of the Bradford Pear trees on my property. So it was a coalition of Ark and Stihl plus Kubota to take on the task. Stihl and Kubota made it through the scuffle just fine. But the sheer number of ****ing branches on a Bradford Pear took its toll on Ark... So tonight I am drinking a lil of this:

Oh my, your bourbon is expensive, better move to AZ, Knob Creek is about $26.00 and Woodford is about $28.00

I guess it's the high volume of bourbon drinkers around here that lowers the prices.

As long as it has something to do with intoxication I will accept the good influence credit be more careful how you toss compliments around I have a reputation to protect.

I really like that Eagle Rare that is on my list to keep around.
Great taste affordable price.

Ive been good all week.
I'm thinking quantity not quality in the bourbon dept. Any suggestions under 20 bucks? I'm going to look for something different like maybe 4 Roses or
what does Wild turkey cost these days? I haven't had any of that stuff since early 80's what else is cheap? Besides beam white label.

Smooth no aftertaste hint of carmel could use some more carbonation though otherwise pretty tasty. And yes I am nibbleing on some smoked cheese which they say it pairs with. YUM!

And after I roll back one or two of those beers I settled on some reasonably priced bourbon that the party store guy swears I will like at about 14 bucks for a 5th. Never had it before that I know of review later...

Aged in new charred white oak barrels ran thru charcoal for a mellow flavor.
Sounds a bit like Jack Daniels so we shall see.

Yeah chipped em weed whacking.

So I poured a glass of the Ezra Brooks on the rocks. Its not bad for the price. Plenty of oak flavor not sweet which I like. For buget booze this ain't bad at all. Bottle has a cork which suprised me. Its a fake cork but a cork no threads. It is hot though like Jack black label. Its got some warming to it. I'll try it in a coke next.

I was at the beer store this evening and looky what I found!

2289

The one next to it is a Imperial Black IPA (whatever that is) from the same company that makes Killer Penguin. That is in the fridge right now chilling down for a taste.
